Shaft Question

I have a Taylormade R7 Quad I got as a gift. I don't paticulary like the way I hit it. I'm not a great golfer, a 19hcp. I was thinking of replacing the MAS shaft that comes standard withan Aldila NV65. I was looking on Ebay and I can buy a used pulled shaft for around $20. Is this a really good shaft and will I notice a difference if I spine it and install it? GS sells the shaft for $88, so I think it's at the least an inexpensive experiment. Before anyone answers with "you never know what your gonna get with a pulled shaft", and "if the guy didn't know what he was doing..." and all that. I know I take my chances and I look at his feedback to see if they had comments about breakage etc. What do you think?

The NV is a very good shaft if you're looking for a boring ball flight, and at $20, it sounds like a heck of an experiment to try.

what do you mean a boring ball flight? What shaft would you recommend? My SS is about 100-105mph. I'm still probably going to buy a pulled shaft on ebay, just for the price, but I want to buy what those in the know think is the best shaft to use.

I realize that this was a gift and that because of that you may be unable at this point to make a change, but in my experience there are easier (more forgiving) clubs to hit. At this point the R7 is still decent trade bait, so you could take a look at clubs like the R5, Launcher, etc. Although I didn't end up buying it, the Adams 460 is available with upgraded shafts, cheap, easy to hit, and as long as any club I've ever hit. Good luck with any way you decide to go. BTW, I found the NV 65 launched a little low for me, I went with the NVS instead and am really happy.

The NV has a fairly high kick point that will deliver a slightly lower ball flight.
