Grip Size s-t-r-e-c-h-e-d out?

I just bought a used set of KZG forged Blades. The grips are fairly new golf pride cords but are larger then standard size. My question is would I need to buy new grips to go back to standard or could I just remove the layers of tape built up and use the same grips. I'm thinking the grips would be streched out to much to go back to Std.
Anyone know?
Thanks

it's quite difficult to get the grips off without ruining them, better off to cut them off and put new ones one. a lot less hassel too.

Chances are the grips will not shrink back to standard if they were even standard to begin with. They could've been oversize grips. Grips can be made smaller by stretching them down the shaft when installed. Do you even know what your correct grip size is? If not, measure from your wristline(the crease between your hand and forearm) to your fingertip. A measurement of 7 1/2" is standard. For every 1/4" longer or shorter would be plus or minus 1/64 from standard.
