Shaft Extensions

I just bought a set of 3 Bridgestone J33 wedges at standard lenght. I am 6'7" and i require +1" on my Ping irons. When I ordered the wedges I decided to order some shaft extenders from golfsmith. I did not order epoxy though because I figured I could just pick some up at the hardware store. Is there an epoxy that I could pick up at the hardware store that would be sufficient for this?? I appreciate what you have to add.

The best epoxy is still the golf epoxy. Standard epoxy becomes brittle whereas golf epoxy has some movement properties. Bssically if you go and purchase just standard epoxy from a hardware store, it should last a while.

You should also check to insure the lie angles are correct for your swing after adding the extensions. The additional inch will change the stock lie. You may have to bend them to fit.

i use the gel epoxy made by devcon. you can find it in most ace hardware stores and has a blue and white cylinders. this is not a brittle expoxy and releases well when heated. i use it all the time.

Also, get the 24 hour epoxy, not the 5 minute epoxy. The 24 hour epoxy is supposed to have a stronger bonding power.

many of the epoxies will tell you what the bonding strength is on the box.

Thanks to trainfever..... I did not know that you must drill out the old epoxy and use 24 hour epoxy. I slopped in some carpenters glue and it held for 3 test shots in my backyard. A hole in one to ya!!
