Refreshing old grips

I have recently dug out an old set of Ping Eye 2+ irons from my Garage, the problem is the grips have started to deteriorate (they have begun to get that 'sheen'). I would like to use them for a few rounds before I get them regripped, does anyone know a quick fix to get a little bit of the tackiness back so I can use them ?

You might want to try soap and warm water with a hard brush. Then after drying, apply some windex / glass plus. It might give you some life to the grips. But if they are really in bad shape, you may just have to re-grip them.

do you let the windex dry or spray on and wipe off?

I use wesleys white wall cleaner. Spray it on, leave it set for a few minutes, and then wipe off. I have used it for about a year.

I've also heard, but never tried, to use a course grit sand paper to rough 'em up and clean off that sheen. Maybe a little sanding and some windex would be the ideal plan. Couldn't hurt to try since your going to replace them after a few more rounds anyway. Not for Winn grips either, just the standard rubber ones.

If you have a wire brush, that works miracles to restore tackiness on grips. Just scrub the heck out of them.
