Old Wilsons (2000 WS)

I recently picked up an old set of Wilson "2000 WS" irons for pretty cheap, and have been told that they're about 20 years old. They play nicely and are in good shape for the most part.

There's some grime on the face of each iron that I can't seem to remove (tried Bars Keeper, Coke, etc). I'd like to give them a clean, brushed look. Do you guys have any advice for how to scrub these faces clean without damaging them?

Soak them in beach water for a while and just take a soft wire brush to them. They'll come out just fine.

I payed 25 for them at Play it Again Sports. The heads looked to be in good condition, and the original grips had been replaced with somewhat newer Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips. I'm a sucker for old clubs, so I couldn't pass it up.

I'll have to give that bleach water a try. Last night I picked up a small Dremel rotary tool and a few polishing brushes at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks or so.

Still can't get to the small crevices, but definitely made a huge difference on the pitching wedge. I'll post up some before and after pics later.

Dremel has a few little golf project "tutorials" on their website:
- Replacing golf club grips
- Cleaning golf club heads

After the rotary tool:

After the bleach bath:

Thanks for the advice, it worked great! The only thing I'd add to the bleach bath is a warning...do not leave your clubs in the bleach water unattended. I let them sit for a few hours last night. When I cleaned them off, everything looked ok except for the 5i. For some reason, the bath had a severe rusting effect only on this club. I was able to clean it up for the most part, but it's a little blackened on the face. Just check in on your clubs periodically when you do something like this.
