Butt trimming a TM Rescue

Hi All,

A little bit of advice please, I have a stock TM Rescue Mid (One of the original ones circa 2004) I would like to butt trim by approx 1/2 to 1 inch. By doing this, will it make any major difference to the swing weight and feel of the club ?. If, after trimming the club it still doesnt feel right, can I put it back to its original state with an extender (without changing the original swingweight etc)

By the way, it's a TM graphite shaft (Stiff)

by cutting a half inch off, you probably won't notice any difference, now an inch, it will fell slighlty lighter, but not enough to mess your swing up. yes, you can extend it back, without adding extra sw. to me, swingwieght is a little overrated unless you go from very heavy to very light or vice versa, there really shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers Michael, I'll give it a go. If I still can't get to grips with it, I'll stick an extender in and trade it

By adding an extender, you will most definitely change the swingweight, depending on the extender you use. Dont forget, besides the half inch or inch you add back on, you are also adding an additional 2 to 3 inches inside the shaft. By adding additional weight at the grip end, you are lightening the swingweight of the club. I would cut the shaft at a lenghth that feels comfortable and then add lead tape to the back of the clubhead until you find a weight that is comfortable, then add either lead powder or tungsten powder down the shaft.
