Question Inside the hosel of titleist 695 MB's

Does anyone have any experience with reshafting titleist 695MB's? I recently pulled the DGS300 shaft out of my 695MB pitching wedge, and found a rubber thing in there, that the shaft seems to fit around. I assume these are taper tip heads, as all other titleists are, but I have never seen this rubber plug before. Since I had to put a shaft on it, I treated it the same as any other reshaft job and put expoxy in all the usual spots. If anyone knows anything, let me know... I hope i dont have to buy another pitching wedge due to a clubmaker error.

I think the rubber thing is some kind of dowel used to dampen the feel on bad shots.
