Cut Graphite Shafts

When cutting graphite shafts 1/2"-1" on irons where to cut? Grip end or head end? What effect would there be on the playability of doing 3-pw?

It depends on the shafts!!! Most shafts need to be tipped somewhat depending on the iron you are installing it in. For instance I would want to tip the XYZ Graphite shaft 1" for the 3 iron and a quarter of an inch more per iron as you progress to the wedges. Once this is done you will butt cut to length after the epoxy is settled. If this is not done you can be playing a R-Flex in your 3 iron and an A is your 7 .... and so on.

The tipping allows the structure of the shaft to stiffen as the weight of the heads increase.
