Lightbulb swirl marks on irons

Does anyone know how they are putting swirl marks on the iron faces? I see that alot of the top line irons have them on. I think I recal that they use a cnc machine to do this but I'm not sure and I don't know what the effect would be.

They are milled to make them perfectly flat.
