Adding length to a putter

I want to add an extra inch or so to my putter. I'm sure it's best to just get a new shaft cut, however does anyone ever just put an extension piece in the butt end and then just grip over it? Just curious.

Yes, I've done it on a couple of putters, and didn't notice any difference other than the length of the putter being more comfortable.

I've read where changing the length of the putter will affect the weight, feel, etc... Maybe I'm not a good enough putter to notice the difference.

I've done it as well. You'll never know it's there and the weight difference is not that noticable if at all. It's easy enough to as well, just need the extension, epoxy and a grip. I think the hardest part is getting the grip alligned correctly.
