Removing a putter grip without damage.

I recently regripped my putter, but I had a mental lapse and forgot to add an extra inch to the shaft. So I want to remove the grip, and put it back on after I add the inch. I didn't blow the grip on, just used single sided masking tape / solvent and slid it on.

Is there a way I can get the grip off without damaging it? I have a compressor, I've just never used the blow on grip method. The grip was about $25, and it just erks me to buy another one if I can possibly save it. Thanks.

try blowing and maybe a heat gun to try to loosen up the glue on the tape a little

Trythis ...Get a hypo needle, and inject solvent in to the grip...you put the needle into some inconspicuous places so as not to see the pin holes..then slowly twist off

or get a wire coat hanger, bend it in half and stick the bended end in with some grip solvent.

Could you just syringe solvent in through the hole at the end of the grip?

Might be some hints in this thread: http://www.freegolfinfo.com/forums/t...901587&mpage=3

If you read far enough you'll also see where I make a rather stupid move myself in blowing a grip off.

Short quick bursts with your compressor will do it. Just let the air do the work by waiting a few seconds after each burst and keep the end cap hole sealed.

This will work. One of the needles by Maltby or someone will work better, because it will shoot more solvent in.

I just blew it off gently, so it didn't explode. Didn't take much to get it off. I put it back on the same way and worked great. I don't have the exact right tip for my compressor, but it still worked with what I had. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be regripping this way from now on.
