I picked up a set of "Lady Hogan" clubs at a yard sale. The grips were dried out and the shafts are rusted but the heads are in good shape. I only paid 5 dollars for them so it couldnt have been a bad deal. I bought them to build a set for my wife. Anyway, as I was inspecting the heads, I noticed that the wedge head was stamped with an "E". I've heard of "P" for pitching, "G" for gap, "S" for sand, "W" for wedge and so on but I never heard of an "E". Does anyone know what the "E" stands for?
E stands for Equalizer. Apparently, Hogan called his pitching wedge the "equalizer" because of how well he could hit it, or how accurate he was with it, or something of the like. Because of this, all Hogan sets mark the PW as the Equalizer Wedge.

I thought Hogan called it an Equilaizer because he believed it equalized the set? i.e made the set complete as it bridged the "gap" between PW and SW?
