As far as the trim thing goes. I should have checked them before moving on to the next shaft. But as far as saying I ******* up, do some simple math and you will see I did not.

Standard 5 iron = 38"
Shaft uncut = 40"
True Temper Trim Chart for Stiff Flex 5 Iron Tip Trim = 4"
Length from Floor to the Well bottom of the Hosel = 1"

Okay so I start with a 40" shaft that I have to tip trim 4" for stiff flex.

40" - 4"= 36"

Okay I insert the shaft into the hosel which is the bottom of is 1" from the sole.

36" + 1" = 37"

A standard 5 iron is 38" and the assembled 5 iron is 37"

38" - 37" = 1" Shorter than Standard

BTW I had not butt trimmed the shafts yet.

Other command shafts I found on the web were 41", the ebay ones were 40". I got *******. But on the flip side if I had done the above math I would have known I was going to come up short if I attempted to tip trim them to stiff. Now I have Apollo Stepless shafts that are 41" long and require 2.5" tip trim for a 5 iron. Which means I will have 39.5" assembled which I will butt trip .5" to give me a 39" 5 iron which is 1" over standard, and what I wanted to begin with.

Now as far as weight you got me there. But the fact is I do not have the equipment to swing weight my clubs so I am going to have my local pro do it, when he bends them to +2* up. But I am going to throw some cheap grips on them and take them to the range before that because I can't wait to hit them.

The TrueTemper site lists two different Command shafts in the technical / identify a shaft section... UTIM, which is 40" uncut, and UTIC, which is 41" uncut. I don't know what the difference is supposed to be, but obviously there is supposed to be one.

Well that is good to hear, I wish we knew why one is shorter than the other. I would be willing to bet the 40" version is not meant to be cut to stiff flex.

I dont know where you got your trimming information but I just built a set with the UTIM40s and it says to trim off 3" for a stiff flex on a 5 iron.

Here is the direct post from the website. It says 4" for stiff.

The True Temper's Command Steel shaft is the ultimate steel shaft. This shaft carries the True Temper name and quality, and the durable professional grade chrome finish. These shafts are ideal for club building especially when price and profit are concerned. This shaft is available in a combination R/S flex model with a parallel tip section, each shaft can be tip trimmed to adjust flex characteristics.

Here is a set of 8 Brand New True Temper Command iron shafts. This set is uncut at 40", are .370 parallel tip,and comes with adaptable shaft bands for regular or stiff flex. This shaft can be either stiff or regular flex depending on how you tip cut the shaft. The cutting instructions are as follows:

Iron Reg Stiff

1 0" 2"

2 .5" 2.5"

3 1" 3"

4 1.5" 3.5"

5 2" 4"

6 2.5" 4.5"

7 3" 5"

8 3.5" 5.5"

9 4" 6"

W 4.5" 6.5"

After the tips are cut you can adjust the shafts to your desired length by butt cutting the shafts

this chart is wrong, if you cut then the chart suggest for stiff, you'll be a half inch short for normal standard length. exanple, an average 3 iron length shaft is 37 1/2, this gives you 2 1/2 inches to cut. the chart calls for three. this chart would work fine for the old standard length which is a half to three quarter shorterthan todays.

Yeah I realized it was wrong after I cut all of them. Anyways I got a set of Apollo Stepless Shafts and they are looking good. Heck I can not believe I can make clubs that look like I bought them at a store. I can't wait to hit them, going to take them and get the lie adjusted first. Trying to practice some patience here.
