How Rusty is too Rusty?

I have a 52 degree Titleist Vokey Oil Can and it really rusted over. The face is now starting to turn white at the bottom, and I am wondering whether or not I am losing playability. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
GolfChamp09

that may be over rusty, you want it rusty, but not to the point of scaling or leaving deposits on everything. a couple of swipes in the sand trap will put it back to normal.

Definitely don't want to have rust in the grooves. Little bit of WD-40 and a good scrubbing with a wire brush should do the trick

It's too rusty if the grooves start getting dull or filled in. I usually let mine rust for a year and then soak it in coke for a few hours.

Loose rust should be brushed off...once you start the process...your life of the wedge is now almost predetermined...plus, Rust eats at the edges of the grooves.
