Hello, I am thinking of trying my hand in club making. I have two questions for somebody that is currently trying this. Is it hard, and who do you get your supplies from golfworks, golfsmith. I know there is more to doing this so if someone can point me in the right dirrection it would be great.
Basic assembly is really easy and can be done with a few tools. I buy my shafts and heads from Golfsmith. Check their website out for the demonstration videos and everything you need to get started.
I get my components from both of those companies. I also get them from Ebay. I also get them form other companies online. Do a search for golf components. Also, if there is a Golfsmith near you, contact them about their club building class. It is free and you get to keep the clubs that you build, usually a driver and a 5 iron. The clubs are free also.
I signed up for a class at Golfsmith. It cost $35 & I got a beginners clubmaking book, I helped make a 5 iron and a driver(both of which I kept), a $25 gift certificate to Golfsmith. Also I was the only one to show up for the class so I spent 5 hours with a professional clubmaker. I would suggest to anyone just starting out to build one club at a time. I would also use steel shafts, just because they are easier to remove. I also recommend a book by Tom Wishon, The search for the perfect golf club. Bob

Sweet. Good to hear the classes at Golfsmith are good. My friend and I are going to the free class in a couple of Saturdays.
Buy Golfsmith's wedge kit. It's cheap as ($27.95 from memory), and it comes with all you need to assemble a wedge, plus a fantastic DVD that tells you everything you need to know. Highly recommended.
