I am planning on ordering components for and building two new drivers in the coming weeks and I was hoping some of you may have comments on the quality/performance of the following set ups.
For my wife I am building (she hits straight but could use some distance help):
Bang Pink-O-Matic 401cc 14*
Accuflex EP Pink LL flex
Winn Excell RF Pink
She is currently hitting a steel ladies Cougar set-up which is fine but I think she could use some more flex and a hotter face and loft.
For myself I am planning on building ( I hit a little fade and am looking for more distance)
Sasquatch Knock-off (you guys have any suggestions SV2? Nessie?)
9.5 or 10.5 loft (comments?)
Grafalloy Prolaunch 65 Stiff
Golf Pride Tour Velvet Midsize
I just broke my Interga T7 (Cracked, it was well used when I got it), so I am looking for a replacement. My back-up is a TaylorMade supersteel 250 nice club but if I get a little power happy with it I get a mean slice.
Bang components are excellent. I'm not sure about the Sasq. You would do well also with the Bang component driver as well. I have the Mellow Yellow 420 cc with the ProLaunch 65 S. If you dont like the Yellow you could get the 450cc or the Bangenstein. I have sold a few knock-offs that I got back with cracked heads. Never had the issue with the Bang heads! Good luck with your club building!

I'm of the opinion that you should never buy a "knock-off" club. The reason? Quality control. Lots of the clones don't have any.
You mentioned a clone that cracked. It's not uncommon.
There are lots of good, quality original design clubheads tout there. If I were going to build a new driver (which I'm considering), I'd definitely go with one that was from a reputable manufacturer, not a clone.
The Integra T7 I had was almost worn out when I got it, but the price was right,,,,FREE. So after using it 2 times a week since May I was not too broken up when it cracked. Actually it didn't surprise me at all. I want to get my wife something nice for her birthday so I am going with the bang for her. Myself well I can drive the ball pretty well, so I don't feel like I need anything nice and frankly the knock-offs are just right in my price range.
I would love to have a new Bang or OEM for myself, if it was this time last year I would have ran to Edwin Watts and bought a brand new club without even thinking. Since then we have had our first child come into the world, and nice shiny new toys just doesn't appeal to me like they used.
I'd recommend you go the the Golfsmith website and look at all the close out deals on driver heads. They had a good deal on a Viper a few weeks back that would be good for your wife and you both. Half price if I remember correct, about $50 a head.
My wife has a Pink driver exactly as what you're doing for your wife...(But I'm a Bang dealer so it was an easy decision) :)
As for you, since you're being money conscious, take a peek at the Big Bang 450...Great head, still used by many in the LDA and retails around 60 bucks.
Incidentally, if you wanna save some money on your wifes club, pass the Pink EP shaft and get the Pink I-Drive shaft...super quality, no spine, minimal deflection (usually non-existant) and they sell for under ten bucks!
What do you mean when you state," no spine, minimal deflection (usually non-existant) ? Do you know what the torque rating for that shaft is? I've never heard of that shaft, and for under $10, I have to believe the torque rating in rather high.
I just looked up the torque for the EP shaft and it's 5.0 in the LL flex. If the Pink I drive shaft is that high also, I find some other shaft to use if it was for my wife. Who makes the Pink I-Drive shaft? I didn't see any mention of it on the Accuflex site.

BTW I am going to run into some spare funds and the wife is going to let me spend up to $400 on a drive next month. I found a new Nike Ignite with a NV 65S shaft on it at the local store that they are going to sell me for $100 new in the plastic, to get me by until then.
Just for the record, I've purchased several heads from Diamond Tour Golf, including the Nessie, and have had no problems with any of them. I've also had faces crack on several Calloways.
Now I will grant you that there are certain "knock-offs" I stay away from. Knockoff cosmetics are almost identical to the original product.
The Nessie, for instance, resembles the Nike SQ on the sole, but that's where the similarity ends. There are several Nike SQ copies out there that have even reproduced the "flange" around the outer edge of the driver.
There's one thing you need to remember about a Knock-off (a club that's virtually identical to the original). The manufactuerers of these heads are mainly concerned with the cosmetics and performance is secondary.
The Nessie doesn't fall into this category, but the SV2 may.
RC; I looked at that I-Drive Pink shaft, and it's got a torque rating of 4.5 and it weighs 70 grams. The Pink EP is 5.0, so I guess 4.5 is an improvement, but not great. The Proforce 65L is the shaft I used to build my wife's driver and it would still be my choice if I was to build her a new driver. I admit I like the price of the I-drive shaft, and if you think your wife will not have any problems with a high torque shaft, it might be worth a shot. If she hates it, you could pull it and install a better shaft latter. Have you mentioned a "black shaft" in a "Pink" head? I think your wife might like the looks of that combination, and it would open up a lot of options for a shaft. It's all a matter of taste here, but I'd think a pink shaft with a pink head would be "dull" compared to pink and black. What do you think?
