Do graphite shafts "break in"?????

Noone has told me this I am just curious. Will the characteristics of a graphite shaft change after a little bit of use? Will it soften or weaken any from its condition as new after used? Is there a "break in" period?

Cool

Only if you got that shaft on E-Bay for half price. Otherwise, it shouldn't change just from swinging a club.

Graphite shafts, like all shafts, be they of steel, fiberglass or boron, will lose some of their "quickness of recovery" after a certain number of flexes. Graphite will take longer than most materials, but it would take tens of thousands of flexes to measure any significant change in them. I would think the club head itself would "quit" before the shaft would. You would be much more likely to damage the shaft before you softened it up too much from use.

The simple answer is NO...

The reason I say this is because you will see some use scientific evidence but the change has to be over a great amount of time (15+ years) and a great amount of change (heat, cold, flexing....etc) but at that point anything will change and it would only be "slightly".
