Getting started

I am planning on reshafting my Callaway Big Bertha 2004 irons and I'm totally new to club building and searching for advice. I have done some light research and found that I probably need a shaft puller and maybe a spine finder along with the reshafting kit with the epoxy. Any advice on the best place to get these products? What else do I need? Do my clubs require any special tools or prep work? THanks for all response and any advice is appreciated.

Basically, all you need is:

-Epoxy
-Ferrules
-Sand paper
-A rounded file for the hosels
-A heat gun or blow torch*
-A pipe cutter (they're like $5.00 at any hardware store)
-Acetone is good for cleaning out the hosels but isn't necessary-IMO

*I've actually used a gas stove top before (although i don't recommend that).

And then obviously you need all of the grip supplies too.

Don't those irons have bore through shafts? Probably not the easiest irons to begin your club repair hobby/career with. But on the other hand, if you can reshaft those, any other irons will probably be much easier.

Good luck!

Dude, those are gonna be tough. You might want to take a class at golfsmith or at least go talk to someone there.

I would highly recomend you bring them to a club builder or you will very likely wind up with a disaster if you do not know what you are doing. Setting up for flex will be diferent with bore tru heads will play a flex stiffer also you have to have a tip pin to finish off shaft and be able to finish bottom off flush. requires a grinder to do a good job with the right finishing wheel.
