Re-Shafting my Cally X460 question

When looking for a shaft what size tip is the X460. When looking to buy i see there is a .350 and a .335.

Does anyone know which size time my driver needs. I can get some pretty good shaft prices from good dealers on ebay for a fraction of the cost of what the golf shops charge.

Last, any stiff shaft recomendations? I am leaning toward the aldila NV 65 Stiff.

most Callaway drivers are .350 tip and have been through out the years. you can also shim a .335 tip which works very well also which may give you more options.
The Aldila nv is a very good shaft that has a higher flex point.

The X460 takes a 0.350 shaft, however, they have a reducing ferrule (they claim its OEM) you can get from Golfworks that will allow you to use 0.335 tip shafts. Cost is less than $3 for the ferrule.

As far as shaft recommendations, unless we know what you are looking to get out of your driver (in terms of ball flight, spin control, etc) and/or what your normal tendancies are, then we really can't recommend a shaft for you.

What are you looking to gain from reshafting?

Here's the ferrule you can get from Golfworks...
http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_CSS

It says it's for the VFT, GBBII, SteelheadIII, but it looks similar to the one used in the X.

I will tell you a little bit more so you can help with this decision.

I was on a launch monitor 1 time and i dont remember all the particulars but i do know my swing speed was 91mph with the 3H hybrid i was testing.

I am looking to gain consistency. My current shaft is the stock shaft in Regualr Flex. In talking to some friends who know alot about golf and play alot they said I should prob change to a S-flex.
With the R flex i would hit some shots prefect, some with a little slice (left side of the fairway or just in the rough) and sometimes a big slice.

Some of the things i have been reading on the NV65 in Stiff saw that it helped with consistency and corrected some draw or fade. Thats what i was hoping for.

Any info would be helpfull

Yea if you were swinging 91 with a 3h that would be higher with a driver...I would get a stiff shaft, but not that tip stiff!

With a 3h swingspeed at 91, I'm guessing you driver ss would be in the 105 range. Typically a std. stiff would fit the bill, but not knowing tempo and transition this is a very generic suggestion. Angle of attack would help too. I will tell you this, however, just about any stiff will give you more control than the stock REG. Generally OEM stock shafts play lite to flex and are real torquey. If you are a quick 'hitter' you may want to think about a tip stiff stiff shaft, if you are more of a swinger you could get away with some reg. flex shafts that are tip stiff, or a stiff shaft that is med. flexed. All depends what your desired ball flight and spin numbers are.
