Restoring an old club.

Well I was looking through a bunch of old clubs today and I stumbled across one of my first EVER golf clubs. It was my grandfathers old forged 3 iron. I used to use that and the cheap plastic wiffle ball golf balls in the backyard. He died a year ago now and I thought it would be cool to kind of "restore" the club. Its in decent condition now with minimal rust. I've already taken care of most of the rust. The grip that was on there literly flaked away. It was real nasty. From what I know and have seen on other clubs and this grip, it was an old golf pride. I'm looking for another one kind of like this. It wasn't leather or anything. Just the real early version of a rubber grip. Can anyone point me in the direction of a classic style grip that was around maybe 25-30 years ago?

that mat be very difficult due to the fact that once they stop making a particular style of grip it's not too long before they disappear for good. unfortunately, rubber items like grips will only last so long even if it's never put on a club. i would check Golfworks or Golfsmith to see what they may have. you might find something similar or classic looking that might suite your tastes.

Lamkin grips have a "classic" look to them, IMHO

I use Lamkin grips, exclusively. They just may have what you're looking for. Perma-Wrap, maybe?
