Removing Leather Putter Grip (Without Damage)

I have managed to pick up a American Classic III blade putter in its standard length of 35". However this for me is too long (all my putters are 33") I tried chocking down the grip but its not comfortable.

Prior to cutting it down I want to remove the grip without damaging it, so I can either put it back on (although not overly keen on the very sticky feel) or sell it and replace with another.

The question is how? Blowing it off is going to be too violent in my opinion, it needs to be teased off, but what it the best way?

Any help will be greatfull

You can use a solvent gun with a needle, and work it off slowly. The best way though, is to unwrap the leather, and then use the solvent gun to remove the underlisting. If the underlisting is cardboard you will have to replace that with a new rubber one. You can buy those at Gripmaster.com.
Good luck!

Just to follow this up.

I thought about it but after 5 minutes of "where shall I start" I decided against it and have left it at 35". So far it hasnt proved to be a problem and now my 33" putters feel tiny. Its funny how you get used to something.
