ferrule question

I lightly sanded a ferrule to make it smooth with the hosel. Now how do I make the ferrule shiney again? Probably the easiest answer that I can't find.

Use a little acetone to make it shiny again. If you have a belt sander with a soft cloth, that will work, too.

Here's to hoping you've not scratched it up too badly:

Lock club in a vise or clamp solidly to sturdy support.

Use SEMICHROME polish in the manner of a shoeshine. (Motorcycle shops have it)

Finish with BRASSO polish.

Result will be glass like.

Give it the once over with fine steel wool and then a quick swipe with acetone on a paper towel.

Cool

The acetone (nail polish remover) should do the job. Next time you have to reduce the diameter of a ferrule, just use a soft cloth with a "shoe shine" routine and that should do it for you. Again, a little acetone might make the job go a little faster. I use a soft cloth belt on my belt sander for the whole job. It only takes a few seconds to get the ferrule down to the same size as the hosel.

Next time I'll try the soft cloth. Can I get that at Lowes or Home Depot?
