Quick Question, Maybe You Can Help

I'm getting ready to order a set of irons from Golfsmith and I have a question about the grip. I want to get the Golf Pride Midsize Tour Wrap, which on their website, is 1/16" larger outer diameter. When I'm custom ordering the clubs, it has these, but then I can also change the grip size. If I get the midsize wraps, do I have to get a larger grip or what? It just kind of confuses me. Thanks for the help in advance.

I'm not really sure what you are asking, but if you order a custom set from Golfsmith and get the midsize grips, they will be midsize, there is no need to ask for larger grips. If they install the tour wrap midsize, they will be larger than std and there is no need for further instruction. They are a completely different grip than a std. tour wrap, there won't be any confusion. Does that answer your question?

Yes it does, I was just slightly confused (at the time) because online there was a section where you could change the grip size (+1/32, 1/16, etc.) and then you could choose your grip itself.. Thanks for the help though.

It depends on the core diameter of the grip. If you put a midsize grip with a core diameter of .600 on a shaft with a diameter of .580, then the finished size of the grip will be standard and not midsize.

They will still be oversized, it does not reduce them to std. Also, there aren't many 0.580" shafts still around. On top of that, different styles of grips are made different amounts of material. Brand X Mid size 0.58 grip will not be the same diameter as brand Y middie 0.58. If golfsmith allows you to choose how many inches over std, then that is the best way to order them if you are comfortable doing so. Then they should install a midsize if need be.
