Putter Shafts

Is there any reason why your can't use a normal iron shaft in a putter, assuming you don't need any special features like a bend? As long as you get the tip right? I know you can get specific putter shafts, but apart from bends etc, why do you need them?

You can use a normal iron shaft, and even bend it your self if you have a good set of tubing benders. What you would want to watchout for is a regular iron shaft, depending on flex, can be lighter then a putter shaft. This will affect the balance of the putter if it is too light, just as the length of a putter shaft will cause balance problems.
