UST Proforce V2 Options

I'm considering 2 options for using this shaft (76 gram model) in my driver (Callaway X460):

1) X-stiff flex, no tipping, 45.5", or
2) stiff flex, tipped 0.5", 45.5"

My swing speed is 112mph and though I have a fairly smooth swing, I hold "the angle" pretty well past parallel on the downswing.

What I want to know is the following:
i) Which of the above flex options best fits my swing (based on my rough description)?
ii) Which of the above options would generate less ball spin (if such a thing can be predicted)?
iii) Would the flex point be different in the two shafts and, if so, what difference can be expected?

First of all, at that length, (45.5"), you're pushing the limits of the shaft in regard to flex. An X-flex at 45.5" will be somewhat whippy. If you really want it to play as an X, you might consider tipping it.

An S-flex, will seem even more whippy and that would definitely have to be tipped especially with a 460 head.

With a swing speed of 112, either a stiff or extra stiff will work.
If your tempo is indeed very smooth, you might want to consider an S-flex.

I play X's myself and our swing speeds are similar, but I tend to load the club more at impact with a quicker tempo. I've tried S-flexes and they are just too whippy at the bottom for me.

Are you sure you want to swing a 45.5-inch long driver?

That's a long shaft and a lot to control.

I'm not telling you what to do, but consider this:

The average driver length on tour is 44.5-inches.
Tiger Woods, (at 6'-2"), swings a 43.5-inch driver.

I've gone down the "long" road myself and I'm back to 44.5" because the extra length just wasn't worth the high-maintenance.
Not only that, but shaft flexes are more realistic at the shorter lenght and the whole "tipping" thing is basically moot as well.

Food for thought.

With a smoother tempo I am in agreement that te "S" flex will work and lose the tipping. The UST product in general plays a stiffer than advertized, When placed in the Cally it will want to play more stiff.

I also agree that the 45.5 is a little long. The tour pros had issues controling drivers past 45 inches. I'm thinking so would a non tour golfer.

If this is a long drive club then I am all for it. If it is a game stix then max distance with max control is the rule and that is obtained by hitting the best part of the club consistantly and that is accomplished with a shorter club.
