New Shaft Titleist 905R

I am thinking about putting a Grafalloy Prototype Comp NT 65 X flex shaft in my 905R. Has anyone tried this combo? I have a 110-115 clubhead speed and also wondered if I should go with the S flex. Thoughts?

There are a lot of shafts out so you just have to try different ones until you find one you like. I heard aldila has some good new shafts out (Aldila Prototype Blue)

Nothing but great things to sayabout Grafalloy shafts.
I put a Grafalloy Pro Launch 65 Wood in my 10.5* driver.
The low end kick was so dramatic that i went to a 9.5* head.
Still great distance with excellent ball flight.

I was hitting a Big Bertha II 9.5 with a stiff ys6 shaft. I was hitting it higher than I would like. I wondered if a stiffer shaft would help.

does the ys6 have a low kick point??
if so, it might be better to look for a shaft with mid to high kick point.

later...

I believe the ys6 does have a low kick point...

I played with one in a 905T for a while and it felt very loose and had pretty bad dispersion with it. Because of that experience, I'm not too fond of that shaft.

Callaway clubs respond very well to the UST V2 shaft or something along those lines!

You mention that you are hitting it higher than you would like, but do you know what your launch angle really is? Most golfers only think they hit the ball too high, when in fact they would be better served with a higher ball flight. If your launch is less than 15 to 16 degrees, you might be surprised at how much better you could hit the ball if you got that angle up.

The blue playes very stiff and the bore thru head of a titleist makes it play even stiffer. It would be like playing an XX-stiff.

I haven't ever been on a launch angle monitor. They only have the ability to get your club head speed and ball speed at Dick's. I just bought another 905r with a adilia nv S in it. My current 905r has a ys6+ r shaft in it. Im going to take them both to the simulator and see which one I hit better.

Here is a quick tip sir... EVERY SHAFT THAT YOU PUT IN A TITLEIST HEAD, WILL BE STIFFER THEN YOU WILL EXPECT! Someone said it earlier, with a TRUE thru-bore, you are taking a shaft and making it EXTRA tip stiff. This being said, you are speaking about a YS6 and an NV. These shafts are EXACT OPPOSITES! YS is a softer shaft with a low kick point with higher torque, and the NV is a high kick point with a very firm tip, and very low torque!

So, you will have exact opposite results. If you are looking for something in between these, go with a Fujikura Tour Platform. This is a mid kick shaft with mid torque compared to these two.

Hope that helped.

I new that they were opposites, but I did not know why. I'm going to take them to the sim tomorrow and check the results.
Thanks for the help.
