I finally made up my mind on a new fw wood shaft and have decided on the SK Fiber TT80. My swing speed is in the low 90's, so I'm right in the middle of most manufacturers flex ratings, right between regular and stiff flex. Do any of you know if the Tour Trac 80 wood shafts play weaker than most manufactures flex ratings? Would it be better to go with stiff in the TT80 or just try tipping a reg flex a little extra? The tip trimming chart is different from what I've seen from other manufactures. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer!
I just checked out their site and yeah, their tip trimming is different. I have never seen tip trimming instructions that go in 1/8-inch increments, (learn something new every day).
Do they manufacture only for clubmakers or is there a retail line as well?
Rule of thumb with shaft flexes: If you're in between flexes, go to the stiffer flex. This allows for more control and allows you to develop a faster swing speed if you decide to try to do that.

Yes! They are retail shafts and have quite a following on some of the other sites I've read. Hireko and MyOstrichGolf both sell them. I'll probably go with your advice and buy the stiff flex.

I have used SK Fiber shafts for years. They make fine, consistent golf shafts with great feel. The TourTrac 80 plays pretty weak to flex, I would think about varying the amount of tip trim recommended for the Stiff depending on your transition tempo and ball flight.

My tempo is a little quick at times, but I'm trying to slow it down. What tip trim instructions would you recommend for someone who wants to achieve a smooth low 90's swing speed?

If you are shafting a 3 wood, I would consider the Stiff untipped. Based on the info you gave me, I would recommend soft-stepping the TT80. This means tip a 5w shaft like 3w and the 3w tip less than the recommended tipping instructions in the same increment. SK recommends tipping the 3w 1/8", so having a stiff untipped just maybe the ticket.

Cool thanks! Just the information I was waiting for. I just ordered them today. Can't wait to try them!
