Question about fluted putter shafts

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the reasoning behind a fluted putter shaft as opposed to just a straight stepped or no step shaft. Does it change the feel of the putter? A lot of the older Bulls Eye putter had fluted shafts.

Thanks

Don't know, but I have one of the very first Wilson 8813's from 1958 and it is fluted as well.

the flutes on the shaft actually stabilizes the tip section...if they werent there the shaft would load too much and feel real whippy...
