Getting Stickers Off The Shaft

Looking for some tips in getting the sticky residue off of new clubs. My new putter and the 5 iron in my new set of irons have the sticker from the company with the modelf info, etc. As expected they don't come off too easily. Any tips on getting the rest of the sticker off and the remaining glue?

If they're stainless steel, I would probably try some fingernail polish remover. If they're graphite, I'd ask my pro shop or look at the manufacturer's website for recommendations.

Alcohol on steel is not recommended. Alcohol promotes rust. Acetone (fingernail polish remover) is fine on steel.
On graphite, alcohol works fine. Don't use heat, and don't get carried away scrubbing on it. You can damage the paint by scrubbing, and the graphite fibers with too much heat. Acetone will damage the paint, and possibly the graphite, so that would be a very bad idea.

I've no idea what mayo does to chrome. If you want to see ugly, apply a bit to raw steel, and let it sit for awhile.

Peanut butter straightshooter? We've gotta get both you guys out of the kitchen.

I would just like to add, your golf shop should remove them for you if you ask. They always do it for me.

Goo Gone works pretty well and lasts a long time.

I just buy clubs at retailers and try to remember to have them use their heat gun to take the stickers off. That's the best way.

I didn't do that when I just bought a hybrid recently and I keep wondering why they don't use all stickers that come off easily. If there is a manufacturers sticker with a barcode, etc. it probably comes off easily...a sticker added by the retailer or whatever is probably going to give us problems.

Vote number 2 for Goo Gone. Available at every supermarket. Specifically made for this.

Also, grip tape solvent will work great too.

Actually, I think grip tape solvent and Goo Gone are the same thing--they smell alike--and they do the same thing.

Unfortunately I ordered them online so there was no option to have them removed in the store. I'll give the acetone a shot. They are steel shafts. One is on my 5 iron and the other is on my putter.
