golf grip decision

Im currently just using the nicklaus grips that came on my irons. i dont feel that they are grippy/tacky enough. so im considering changing them, i've washed them multiple times and they just dont perform.

the golf shop near my house completely over charges for their grips, and it would be cheaper for me to do it myself. i'm going to install them using air, so i wont need any tape.

ive been looking at the winn g8, xi7. are there any grips that you would reccomend?

anything better than what i have now is great.

Winn are good grips,so long as you don't play in the rain, they tend to get a bit greasy. The Tour Velvet by Golf Pride is probably the most common grip around. I prefer to pay a little extra and have Lamkin Torsion Control grips on my clubs. Very very nice.

Have a look on Golfsmith at there selection and see which you like the look of. Christian of solidrockgolf.com a sponsor here might be able to hook you up with the grip of your choosing

i think i might choose either the winn g8 or the golf price multicompound, my hands sometimes get rather moist.

if there is another one you might reccomend, let me know.

hopefully christian stops by, as i might be picking up a wedge as well.

The G8's are nice. I have them on my woods. I still prefer the Golf Pride Tour Velvet on my irons though, and they seem to do a bit better in the rain.

I have heard of using Air to remove grips, but to put them on? Without tape? How do the clubs stay afixed to the shaft. Could someone explain this to me, or give me a link to a site with this process on it.

I like the Golf Pride Tour Velvet. Yes, there not as fancy as the some of the new grips out there, but they are solid grips...inexpensive too.

I have always used Jumbo Chamois grips. They stay tacky for a couple of years, and they don't feel mushy like a lot of oversized ones do..

i think im going to do my irons in golf pride multi compound since my hands get moist sometimes, and that cord might help.

Good choice kchau. Clean them with Windex every couple of months, and they should stay tacky for a good, long time.

would windex improve my current grips? i just sanded my grips with 80 grit sand paper, and it helps alot when my hands are dry, but even when they are slightly moist they dont feel that secure.

I can't say that it would help the grips you have now. I clean my grips every 2 months with Windex. I soak one rag down with Windex, and scrub it in, and another rag with water to scrub it back out. Then, I let them air dry for a day. I've never had a set of grips last less than 3 years, no matter what brand (so far).
As the old saying goes, what have you got to lose by trying?

I like the Winn G8's for almost any weather but I have found some golfers feel they get too "mushy" during the rain.

I would recommend the Golf Pride Multicompound grips over the Golf Pride Tour Velvets because of the soft cord.

I will say this... when it comes to Grip Sales we are talking about my 3 most popular grips with the Colored Sharpro's and Lamkin Torsion Controls being a close second....

I haven't added the DD2's to the site yet but I feel they will definitely be a hot item this golf season. Alot of golfers are getting their clubs re-gripped with these.
