Not sure if my irons are in danger of coming apart, slightly worried!
OK, I got up close and personal with my irons today, gave them a good clean, just waiting for the new grips to arrive and found something that worried me on my 7 iron.
If you view the full image (can't really see in the thumbnail) I have circled it in read.
It's just a little peice of plastic that fits snugly between the club head & shaft.
Now, nothing seems weakened here, but I'm not sure if it is a sign of bad things to come, or if I should just not worry (There for cosmetics only??)
I'm headed out for my first proper round of the season in 12hrs, so I hope there is nothing wrong!
Re: Not sure if my irons are in danger of coming apart, slightly worried!
Just push it back in and enjoy your round. You can confirm that the head is still in the same place on the shaft as it was when you bought the clubs by comparing the length of the 7i to the lengths of the 6i and 8i. Simply confirm that the 7i length is in the middle between the 6i and 8i lengths.

A loose ferrule is nothing to get overly concerned about. Put on a drop of super glue, and slide it back down into place against the hosel, and it'll be good as new.

So it's called a ferrule, eh. Nice to know :)
I can't push it back in properly just with my fingers, it needs more force and I don't see the best way to do it. I might just ask if the guy at the pro shop can squish the few loose ones back in for a few dollars, otherwise I will try track down someone with a vice and try squish em in myself.
Re: Not sure if my irons are in danger of coming apart, slightly worried!
This would be a lot safer to use on a plastic ferrule than a vise would. I made one myself years ago, and haven't managed to break it, or wear it out yet.

This is true...by the same token, you can immerse the clubhead/hosel in warm to hot water and easily slide the ferrule back in place...then put a thin bead of superglue along the top of the ferrule.
