I am purchasing a new set of irons and and since alot of people have the same kind, I thought it would be cool to engrave my initials into them. I would hate to have mine switched around with others because some of my friends are fools and would probably do that.
Any idea where I could buy something to do this? Could a golf shop do it? Thanks
Go to a trophy shop...you can pick the font and location...will come out looking very professional...
Shaft bands remind me of nametags sewn into my shirt when I was a kid...not cool...
It may not be cool, but it doesn't ruin what little trade-in value you're going to get on those clubs when you decide to trade up. Shaft bands come off. Engraving doesn't.
No one wants a set of irons with someone else's name on them. That's what it comes down to.
If you have no interest in the resale value, then I agree with the previous poster who recommended a trophy shop. They would be the most qualified to handle such an engraving.
ah, thats I forgot to tell you. Usually I wear out a set of irons until they are not "salable" anymore. Any different thoughts now?
Gotcha. I've got probably 350-400 rounds on my 2001 Staffs, which are forged. They're still not worn out. I will probably upgrade one of these days, but it's questionable because I still haven't re-grooved these yet. The new balls just don't seem to wear a set of irons like the older ones did. Hard to believe they aren't as rough on a club's face as balata was.
yeah, the heads. I don't know if you guys have seen but in golf digest they have "Whats in the Bag" of tour players. Most of them have their initials on the head. So thats sort of where I got the idea from. Not saying I'm a pro or anything

We get it...you don't like it...
I don't think you are going to "hurt" the resale value when trading in to a shop as you don't get much anyway, and on Ebay, you'll will find someone who doesn't care...
...and BTW, engraving is a permanent way to mark your clubs...something that might make someone who has sticky fingers think twice as shaft band do come off...
If you get your irons custom fitted, the OEM can put your name or initials on the clubs. Just tell the fitter that you want it done and he'll submit the request along with your specs.
I had a PING fitting last month. one of the options was initials or name. There was also the option of cursive or block letters.
