Looking for a new shaft.....Heard about the Accuflex Evo lite and I'm looking for more recent reviews on the Accuflex evolution lite...All comments here are almost a year old already....Please tell me what you think about this shaft...Thanks!
I am currently using an accuflex assassin II world champion, its working great for me right now, I have a new driver coming and I want to try something new and better...
do you think if the evo lite has the same flex and cpm, it will be better than the assassin?
Thanks!
Nice jj! but at the moment I decided to get the graman UL540, everybody is saying this shaft is great too....but I will definitely try the evo lite if the graman does not work out for me.
I have both of these shafts in play right now. The EVO lite is extremely light and it feels like it is a bit harder to control, but when you look up the ball is traveling far and straight. So, even though its light, it appears to be very stable through impact.
The #1 driver in my bag is the Geek DCT shafted with the Limey 540X. This is my all-time most favorite driver (I've had over 70 in 3 yrs -- the advantage of building your own stuff) The 540 has a better weight and feel for this 115ss. The EVO lite is pure distance, but the 540 delivers both power and control. It has a better weight and mid profile which allows for increase feel. On top of that, it is definitely a conversation piece on the 1st tee.
Bottomline is that these are both excellent shafts. The Limey just feels better in my hand. I don't really care for the color and graphics of the EVO lite either....little hard to match it up with a head. The limey, as crazy as it is, matches well with black heads and is an outstanding performer.
AGoodWalk, thanks for the comparison, I got a UL540 R-flex my swing speed is 95-100, you think R-flex is right for me? Should I tip the 540 or not? I'm going to put it in an FS2 head...
Thanks!

The FS2 has a BBGM of 1 1/4" and so my advice is that if you truly near 100mph, you will want to tip the R-flex 540 a fair amount. Depending on your ballflight and transition, you will want to tip it between 1/2" - 1". This should be a great combination, btw. If you are a real smooth swinger, you could get away with the R flex untipped. If you are about middle of the road, I'd say about 2/3" tip trim would help you out a bit.

AGWSA, you hit the nail in the head! This is my dilemma right now, if I should tip the 540 or not...
I was tested months ago and I was around 95-100mph...but that was months ago and I think I have improved significantly since....I think right now, especially when I am in the groove, I may be closer or even more than 100mph...
I also think that I am in the "middle of the road" like you said not so smooth but not that aggressive...
I plan to cut the 540 to about 45" but I want to try it out at 46" first....Do you think I should tip it right away, 1/2" at 46"? and then if it doesn't work out for me at 46" I'll have a final spec of 45" tipped 1/2"...would this be okay? what do you think? or should I just settle or keep it at 45" untipped?
FYI my current shaft is an assassin2 r-flex 44.5" I don't know if it was tipped or not, on a good hit I get about 235-240yards carry...my irons are DG S300 and my 5 iron is 170-175yards
Thanks!
edit "I forgot to mention that another reason why I am having 2nd thoughts of tipping the 540 is because it might lower the trajectory, and some say that the FS2 is already low as it is....I got the 10.5 degree...I was thinking if I tipped the 540 my trajectory would even go lower? I could be totally wrong of course!"

Compared to the Assasin shaft you have now, the EVO lite will have lower torque, a softer tip, and a little less weight. If that's what you think you want, go for it.

Oneputt,
How about the graman UL540? can you compare that with the assassin?
Thanks

Okay... we have several factors in play here. 1st, the FS2 has been reported to hit lower than the FS1, but not anything to extreme. 2nd, we have the clublength. 3rd, we have your low ball flight. 4th we have your actual swingspeed and carry. 5th, we have the BBGM (bottom bore to ground measurement) of the FS2. and 6th, the playing characteristics of the Limey 540 itself.
We'll start with #6 -- The 540 Limey plays very similar to the Assassin II. Mid-high ball flight that does not play all that stiff to flex. This is what started this business of tipping in the first place. If you are a low ball hitter, than this seems to be a decent choice for you. If we combine an extended club length with BBGM of the FS2, I would first recommend the 540 in a stiff. However, if you are planning on playing it 45" or less, we can work with an R flex. It just at 45", I would definitely think about tipping it between 1/2" and 1". At 44", I would not tip it at all...anywhere in between, you can interpolate it. The other thing to look at, before I forget, is headweight. It shoud come in around 198-200 g which is fine and we won't worry too much about it. Any lighter or heavier than that, we can factor that into the equation along with clublength.
Thanks AGoodWalkSpoiledAgain, That clears it a bit, but I already ordered an R-flex....
If the UL540 plays like the assassin, I think this is a good choice for me, I really like the way the assassin feels and its really "solid" too...
Personally I think i will end up at 45" untipped, I will try to delay the tipping unless I really feel it necessary....If really needed I will just shorten it to 44.5" untipped, instead of tipping....
I just want to see how it feels to hit a 46" shaft...I'm pretty confident with my swing right now and I want to push it a little bit more...my only worry is the flex, at 46", like you said, you suggest a stiff flex, I have the same feeling, but a lot of people are also saying that the R-flex graman can handle my SS fine! no need to worry about it.
Thanks for giving your inputs, it really helped me a lot!!
