golfsmith jack'd up my driver

i had golfsmith reshaft my driver. when i picked it up i noticed the white score lines towards the heel area had turned kind of a very light brown color (very noticeable). i know with the bore-through heads they need to apply more heat but isn't that too much??? also, they left epoxy residue on the club head around the hosel area. to top it all off, i asked them to cut the shaft to 44.5" but it's more like 44".

is golfsmith not the best place to have repairs done or what?

Did you complain to the builder or manager? This job was done by one person, not the whole company. You can't fault a whole company for one person's bad job. You need to go further up and contact the manager or a higher up. If you don't say anything and get it straightened out no one else at Golfsmith will know, and you'll be grumpy at the whole corporation.

The guy that builds and repairs clubs at my local Golfsmith did a great job with the Snake Eyes clubs we ordered, and also has repaired one of my fairway woods. All came out clean and precise. The only thing I don't like is the guy takes too many days off and leaves the business without a back up builder as good as him.

Good luck.

Sounds like his body was there but his mind was elsewhere. Or he's just not a very good repair guy.

Re: golfsmith jack'd up my driver

Measure the club, and if it's shorter than you ordered, make them replace the shaft. As for the heat problem. Callaway heads can be harder than most to work on. The new FT-i doesnt' have a hosel, so you can't apply heat to it to break down the epoxy. You have to use a HOT ROD and loosen the epoxy from the inside. It sounds like golfsmith didn't do it this way with your driver. Make them fix it.
