I am about to put some new grips on my irons and am running into a problem. I have removed the old grips and cleaned off the tape. Before ordering grip tape, I checked the forum and found that all of the regripping threads mentioned 2-sided mascing tape, which ace, the home depot, nor the local mom and pop's hardware store carry. However, they all carry double sided mounting tape. I bought the thinnest make they had, but I am concerned that the thickness will alter the shape of the grip, leaving its roundness uneven. Is this tape too thick?

I'm not clear as to how it will affect the "roundness", sounds to me like it'll just make the grip larger. Kinda like adding extra wraps to standard grip tape. If the width of the tape is too wide so that it wraps around the shaft 1 1/2 times or something like that, you can cut it to size so its wraps evenly around the shaft with no overlap

I went down to austad's and just picked up some grip strips, problem solved. Thanks!
