Re: Building a putter
I doubt you'll be able to find any blue prints for a milled putter.
A standard putter head is about 340 grams (+/- @ 20 grams). The heavier ones can be 500+ grams.
The easiest way to machine a putter head is to make your design without a hosel and drill a hole 70 or 71 degrees from the angle of the sole of the head. This will give you the proper lie angle. Also, the loft should be 3 or 4 degrees.
I've made simple designs out of 431 and buffed and polished them, epoxied a shaft in, cut to length and installed a grip. I never liked any of them more than the commercial models I have bought. I made one out of 6061T6 with brass weights, too.
Actually the 3 or 4 I made, I ended up selling to people because they'd see them in my bag, ask about them, try them, make a few putts and then offer me cash for them on the spot.
