Question Question about Fitting...

I have just bought a set of irons on the internet. However, now I am starting to worry because i dont know if they will fit right... I know this. Im 5'9" from the floor to my wrist is 31". And the clubs are the Mizuno T zoids. The 5 iron is 39" tall. I think the clubs might be too tall for me. Also, can you get your grooves re-cut? or Sharpened?

Re: Question about Fitting...

How are you measuring the club?

I believe the official way is to position it with the sole flat on the floor (like you would if hitting a shot) and measure from the outside of the hosel (floor) to the end of the grip. A standard 5-iron should probably be 37.50" for a club of that time period, but you might see them at 37.75" or 38.00" now.

Well, if the 5i is 39" long then it is safe to say that the clubs are definitely too long. I'm 6'4" and I play 38.25" 5i. Now, the question is if you measured them correctly. This is done by having the club in the playing position with the sole flat on the ground. Put your measuring device directly behind the shaft from the ground up to the grip cap. Properly fitting length is more than just measuring wrist-to-floor and height. The player's skill and comfort zone also plays a role. Do you have the 5i from your old set so you can put them side by side?
