CHEAP SHAFT?

Hello. I've got a king cobra sz 440 driver. I hit it really good. I just recently got a king cobra sz 3 wood and hit it even better. The shaft on the driver is a mitsubishi rayon sl-45, stiff flex low kick. The driver on the 3 wood is an Aldila hm tour 60, regular flex mid kick. So I was thinking of changing the shaft on the driver to the same one that the 3 wood has. But a shaft like that cost up to $80. I bought the driver used for $50, so I don't want to spend that kind of money.

So my question is, Is there a cheap or good priced shaft out there that could give me a good result? I have found these but don't know if I would make my driver worse or better by getting a cheap shaft on it.

Aldila Golf Shafts: Value Series VX Wood Shaft

UST Golf Shafts: Competition 65 Series Wood Shaft

Grafalloy Golf Shafts: Attack Lite Wood Shaft

Unless you are actually going to upgrade, don't mess with success...

Ebay my friend...shafts aplenty on the cheap...

I wouldn't change the shaft just for the fact that you won't get a boost in performance for the money you'll spend. In fact, that Aldila HM Tour 60 is obsolete to the best of my knowledge.

Check with Golfworks/Golf Galaxy and see if they still have any Rifle Vector shafts. I got a few on sale for $15 each, and they were $65 or so. Pretty good shaft for $65, and a great deal at $15 Don't forget to add in the cost of labor to install the shaft and heve it spine aligned. Good Luck

Re: CHEAP SHAFT?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to start looking for the same driver on ebay or something. I just hope I can find the same one with regular flex shaft on it.

Re: CHEAP SHAFT?

Whatever you choose to do, do not use any of the three shafts you have listed. They are complete garbage... so inconsistent from shaft to shaft and ridiculouly out of round more times than not. Ebay is a great suggestion to pick up older quality shafts at a good price. Also a great suggestion are the Royal Precision Saber Vectors on closeout at golfworks and on eBay. Another real good one are the SwingScience shafts available at MyOstrichgolf.com. These are the best shafts under $20 bar none. Couple of days ago, eBay had some Accuflex Icon V.2 for $39.99 which is a steal as well.
