Tungsten Powder

Hi,
I would like to adjust the swing weight in both a steel shafted iron set with Tungsten Powder. I would totally appreciate if the process of adding the weight down the shft could be explained.. I would assume that it is done after the club is built to insure accuracy in swing weight. Thanks

Re: Tungsten Powder

If the clubs aren't assembled yet, then by all means use lead swing weights to adjust the swing weights of your clubs. The only reason to use tungsten Power would be if the clubs are assembled, and the swing weights are too low. Then you just pour the tungsten powder down the butt end of the shaft, and when the swing weight is correct, you push a small cork down the shaft on top of the powder to hold it in place. Golfsmith sells the powder and the corks for the job. You'll also need a long steel rod to force the cork down the shaft . You can either install new grips after you're done, or you'll have to get the tools needed to open up the butt end of the old grips so you can install the weight and corks. If you don't need to increase the sw too much, you can use lead powder instead of tungsten powder. Or solid lead slugs. Your choice.
