Re: Driver: grip down an inch or lope off an inch?

Yes I am more comfortable the Club it seems more secure without over gripping. When i choked it seemed the waggle a bit in my hand which I think caused me to regrip at the top. I also believe that my swing speed has increased holding it on the end. How do you increase the head weight. I assume with lead tape can this be removed easily?

A pro would put a little lead putty down the shaft so that it wouldn't be noticed Bob. Once it's in there, it's in there.

You could add lead tape to the head and see if you like the way it feels. If you like it, but not the look of the tape, then have weight added inside the tip of the shaft.

One problem you should be aware of related to weight down the shaft is that it could cause you to turn the clubhead over faster. (It really depends on the amount of weight added.) If you already draw the ball, it could be a bad thing. If you hit a fade, or slice, it could help you to straighten out your ball flight.

One of the nice things about Golfsmith club heads, is that most of them have a small "weight port" at the bottom of the hosel, just below where the shaft goes. This allows you to add enought weight to increase the swing weight more than enough to suit most any golfer. It's also safer than adding a shaft weight inside a graphite shaft.
