Making a wedge raw.

Is it possible to make a "chrome" wedge a raw one?

I have used sand paper and made it shiny, and i dont believe its chrome.

anything i should do? or do different?

btw this is an old wedge i got off the "5 dollars apiece, or kountry klub special 2 for 10" hahaha
so im not losing much if it doesnt work out right.

Re: Making a wedge raw.

If it isn't already a raw finish or chrome plated, its probably made of stainless and will not get the rusty appearance you're probably looking for.

You could sand the heck out of it and then try applying gun blue to it. That should put a light finish on it similar to Cleveland's "black pearl"... becoming darker with more applications of the bluing solution. I used gun blue on my old Scotty Cameron and it came out great. Light sandpaper removed the rust, gun blue provided a great finish and some mineral oil kept it from re-rusting.

I have heard that soaking the head in coca cola will strip certain finishes (gunmetal being one)...haven't tried it...

Sharpening the grooves will achieve the same green-grabbing effect.

It works, put it in diet coke for 2 days and then take it out... any finish on it will be stripped.

*mmm... I love pop*

But like Martin said... if it is stainless steel than you will probably not see any results.
Even trying to oil can it or gun blue it would be a waste of time because the metal will not soak up the oil.
