I might have to get in on that even from all the way over here, shipping costs and all...the mp 001 is the best three wood I have ever hit...

Martini78; Let me know if you thnk you'd like to try either one of my 260cc driver heads. I'd have to pull the shafts first, but I would be willing to sell you either of them. You might even like the steel head model as it is, it has a Rifle graphite shaft in it. Might work for you as is.

I got an 11 degree Callaway VFT head yesterday. I'll monkey around with that and let you know. Thank you.

Re: Club fitting question - bending a fairway wood

I went to the used shops again...with summer approaching I have to say that you have piqued my interest in a super 3 wood martini...our course gets harder than an airport runway, and the possibilities of a low lofted wood that would run and be more steerable (low punch hooks and slices that run forever) is intriguiging...haven't pulled the trigger, but there is a 11* warbird head (plus about 10 others) with my name on it...

Interestingly enough, there was a burner 3 wood in the shop as well...I lined up the warbird driver and the burner 3 wood and the longer shafted and bigger head of the two was the burner...the callaway might have had a bit more overall displacement as the face is a little deeper, but at address, the burner appears larger...which brings me to this...yesterday's driver is today's 3 wood...just never had the direct side by side to drive the point home...

Re: Club fitting question - bending a fairway wood

Today, most all 3 woods are less than 200cc. Some of the older metal drivers are around 260cc. What would work best for you, is a matter of opinion, and what length you want the club. A 3 wood head will weigh more. so if you want a short shaft mini driver, it might be better, If you want a full length club, the 260cc driver head might work out better. While you could add weight to a driver head to get the swing weight where you want it, it' would not be easy to remove weight from a 3 wood head.
