Shortening length: Affect lie?

When shortening a club, does this make the lie flatter or more upright? I have been fitted for -1/2" and 2* flat. I'm thinking about building some irons, but don't have access to a bender. Was wondering if I could do some tweaking through length.

Re: Shortening length: Affect lie?

If you shorten a club, the lie will be slightly flatter. You could adjust the lie a little with the length, but not enough to get your clubs 2 degrees flat. And if you did play with the length, you'd mess up your 1/2 " shorter club length. You'd be much better off to have the lie angles bent by someone that knows what they're doing.
