Heavier Swing Weight = Better Swing?

Just a question on swing weight.

I recently was able to hit a heavy swing weighted driver, D5 and I was amazed how my swing just fell into place...I seemed to have been very comfortable in this swing weight. Even if I tried to swing hard at it, my swing still seemed to be very stable. Then I tried it at D6 and 7, the driver started to hit the ground before ball impact, brought it back to D5 and perfect feel again.

is there such a thing as being comfortable at a certain swing weight?

Is it a smart thing to also do with the irons too? maybe trying D3 or D4 or even D5 with the irons an see what happens.

Is there another way to increase SW without adding too much lead tape?

Thanks so much!

Re: Heavier Swing Weight = Better Swing?

I think it's a great idea to play with different swing weights to find the one you are most comfortable with, and hit the best. I've got one driver that is D10. It came that way for some reason. I like my irons at D4 and my driver at D6. Seems of feel better to me. A heavier shaft will increase the sw a few points. Adding a half inch to your driver will do it. So will a lighter grip. You can also add weight inside the tip of the shaft.

Yes, and no. I wouldn't get overly concerned with matching your entire set to a certain 'swingweight-scale' measurement (which is defined/designed in a somewhat arbitrary manner), but you do want to get your clubs to where they feel 'right' for you.
