Bang, SMT Driver Heads

I walked into a custom club maker's store this week after hearing good things about the owner. Full launch monitor with video simulation and a bunch of other electronics that I didn't ask about. Anyway, they had quite a few Bang drivers built up waiting to be picked up by other customers. Another brand I noticed was SMT. I've learned that these companies specialize in driver heads and they are popular at long drive competitions.
Has anyone on the forum had any experience hitting these?

A friend of mine plays an SMT Deep Bore 455 driver. He tinkered with a couple of different shaft combinations but once he got it dialed in, he could launch it. I hit it a couple of times when he first got it about 6 months ago and thought the head was a little too big (455 cc's, hence the name) for my tastes. Now, I'm actually looking for a driver with a larger head. I know SMT drivers are pretty well regarded and aren't that expensive compared to a lot of brands such as Taylor Made or Titleist.

I play 2 SMT heads currently and in the past year have tinkered with probably 5 total SMT heads. They are...well QUALITY, they are made with LD'ers in mind but they also lend verrry forgiving traits for your everyday golfer. Mike Tait (owner of SMT) is a class act and has one of the best customer service oriented businesses ive ever seen. Steve over at bang is doing some good stuff also, hes got a brand new head debuting this year and had a huge success with the bangenstein FU2 head last year.

The big thing is getting the right shaft for any component, sounds like that clubfitter has everything he needs to dial you in perfectly.

Bang Clubs

I build clubs for myself and friends and we have a great time with the Bang Product line. There 460 is awesome and you can even purchase titanium fairway woods that match the driver, something not found with many component manufacturers.

Both are very good components, I have the SMT Spectrum and Nemesis, tried the 455 Deep Bore and O2, Shinnecock and for Bang I've tried the Bangster and BOM, also tried the Mellow Yellow...good quality components, give them a try.

Spectrum Fairway woods are made of steel right??? What are good shafts that match well with these fairway wood heads? thinking of getting a new 3 and 5 :) Plus should my fairway woods flex be the same at my irons or my driver? Or it should be same all throughout .. What are the general rules for shaft flex

I use the Bang-O-Matic 460 head with an UST I-rod shaft, I was blown away by the ease of the swing and the length of the drives, and it looks good to. the fancy chrome around the back end helps the aerodynamics of the club head and also makes the 460 size look smaller allowing for more center contacts. I love this club and would recommend it to anyone. I've not tried the SMT but I not looking for another driver as I don't think it would be any longer than the Bang.
