What does a 5' 2" player use?

Hey guys, like i said before a whole bunch of my friends are getting into golf and its crazy! one of my friends is really short (5' 2" to be exact). I was wondering what is the best option for him? keep in mind he is a beginner but does have great swing speed (he plays tennis)...so i was wondering like those junior sets..are they any good? like quality and stuff? or is it better to get a bargain starter set and get it cut shorter? im not sure how much all that costs...but his ideal budget is right around that $300 mark...

First if he is a tennis player my guess is that he will have either a nice inside to out swing...which produces a draw or he will hit a big hook. As far as the clubs go he just needs to cut the shafts down and adjust the lie angle flat...after he is fitted to be sure of measurements. He can get fitted for free and still get clubs with in his budget.

Yep, definitely get fitted(loft, lie, swingspeed...etc). A junior set of clubs would not be the way to go. Those are designed to help get the ball in the air with slower swing speeds(like senior(A) flex).

try pinemeadowgolf.com they've got a fitting program on the first page that could give your friend ideas about lengths. plus they're ideal for someone on a budget. i've had my clubs for about 3 mos now, & have had nothing but good results(when i'm not swinging like a loser).
for the same price as a walmart/sportmart these guys will answer any questions, adjust lengths & lies, & have a very forgiving 30 day return policy. i've heard gigagolf is good too. both companies have superior customer service. hope this helps.

Spend $25 or so and get pro fitted, then take those specs and find a good used set of clubs and have them cut to fit. I don't know any other way to stay in a $300 budget for clubs and at five foot two, you will obviously need shorter shafts. Then save your money up and go down and get fitted for a new set made to your specs.
