Rust on Shafts

I thought I'd try and tap the knowledge pool here. I have always had the problem of little rust spots developing on the shafts of my clubs. I was just wondering what's the best way to avoid this and how to get rid of them? I usually clean my clubs after every round, and I doubt letting my clubs sit from August through February when I either don't have time or the weather isn't good enough to play helps. Thanks.

That happened with my old clubs, they got some water in the inside of the shafts. At that time before I knew anything I let a buddy regrip them and from regripping my clubs now myself I figured it out... He never added enough tape to extend and put inside the butt of the shaft so no water or anything like that can get in. Usually you leabe about 1/2 inch of tape past the end of the shaft you twist it up and you shove it inside the shaft like plugging it up with tape. Well thats what happened to me since there was no tape there water got right in and the shafts started to rust.. It could be that, or maybe something else just my .02

Coke or any soda is good at getting rust off the shaft or a club head. Like LOS11 said it may be rusting on the inside. I had a sand wedge that did that and the shaft broke on a normal swing.

Thanks for the responses. I hope that my shafts aren't rusting from the inside. I'll take a close look at them this weekend and see what the deal with them.
