Eventually I'll make the leap to another driver and it seems like all the new ones are extremely light. Much lighter feeling than my BBB. I've been fooling around in the pro shop with the new Taylor Made and Mizuno big sticks. The 460 sized heads. What's everyone elses experience adding weight to their clubs?
I shortened a couple of putters from 36" to 34" and applied some lead tape to the back of them because they felt too light. I tried to apply the tape uniformly so it wouldn't affect the balance of the head. It seemed to work out OK so far.
I just put a few strip on the heel of my 3 wood I havent hit with yet... I am going to the range tomorrow I will let you know..
Didnt do a darn thing for me.. I actually was hitting the ball worse the lead tape on the heel.. I ripped the tape right off and starting hitting the ball better again
i have been using my Cobra Sz440 for a few months now with varying degrees of success. I usually get good distance but tend to spay it about a bit, and my bad shot is a high weak slice which i could throw the ball farther than!! I have always felt that the club head was too light and i had no feel for where the head was during the swing and through impact. I mentioned this to a playing friend of mine and he suggested using lead tape to increase the weight. I tried this about 2 hours ago on the driving range and the results were fantastic! I applied 2 strips of tape to the heel and 1 to the toe and the feel of the extra weight made hitting it so much easier, i hit about 60 balls, all felt solid and straight. Even the off centre hits went great. I realise this weight must not suit everyone but i would suggest anyone give it a go if your having problems, what have you got to lose!!
