Hey everyone, currently playing a TM 420 burner and V-Steel 3/5 Woods. Looking at going to Mizuno MP001 in all 3 (400cc 9 deg 13.5 strong 3 wood and 18 deg 5 wood)
I am considering playing them with steel purely to increase accuracy - although I may consider a steel shaft in juts the 3 or 5 wood as my accuracy go to club. I swing at approx 100 and my natural ball flight is a slight fade although when it goes bad I slice. I can draw the ball as well - but I find that accuracy really may be more important than distance. I am not a pro so I can't hit miracle shots out of the rough.
Just wondering if anyone has made the change and if they can comment if they lost a heap of distance in making the switch - or if you just want to make general comments please do so.
i think steel in fw wds is a good idea, since they get hit from all kinds of wierd spots. but i'd strongly advise against it in a driver. there's so many options for graphite now that it's just ridiculous. you can get one with all the characteristics of steel with half the weight & twice the oomph.
good choice on the mp's. that driver is looong. haven't hit a fw wd yet, but they set up nice.

Thanks - the driver wasn't so much an option - I think I will go with a grafalloy prolite 35 stiff with the driver - but it is definitely an option in the FW woods. I think Dynamic Golds are my only option in the FW woods though - and I would prefer rifles - so trying to find out if it can be done (I live in NZ so the options here are not that flash)
my driver is 45 inch and basically if I want as much distance as possible I swing the 45 but if I want more control, I just choke down to 44 inch. seems to work for my swing anyway.
tiger went to graphite for a reason, switching from a graphite driver to a steeel three wood threw him off. He said once he switched to a graphite driver he hit some of the worst 3 wood shots of his life while playing with the steel one. If you want a steel why not just get a low torque graphite. I bet steel is not much, if at all, more consistent then a grafalloy blue shaft

I had considered it, but I can't get them with grafalloy blue - coming from NZ it is really hard (and expensive) to get some clubs reshafted. I think the cost was about $420 for the club and almost $200 for the shaft - and if I get it through TGW in the US it has no option to get grafalloy blue shafts. But thanks for the advice anyway - may just have to look at other graphite shafts
