Factors involved in releasing the club

I recently went a midsize grip on all my clubs and I'm really having a hard time releasing the club. I can't seem to rotate my left wrist properly thru impact and it's hurting like heck. Besides going to a smaller grip, what other things can I change to help release the club better? Would going to a lighter shaft help? Lower swingweight?

get out to the range and hit balls. you almost want to feel like you're going to hit a snap hook. i've been going through the same thing a little bit lately.
